Welcome to Motion Picture Officers Association of Los Angeles, California.

Motion Picture, Television, and Commercial filming in the City of Los Angeles requires a permit from FilmLA.

Frequently, based on the nature of the filming activity, the permit will require the hiring of off-duty/retired LAPD officers to perform traffic and crowd control duties. 
These officers are paid by the production company, usually on the same type of time cards as other studio employees.

The Los Angeles Police Department does not involve itself in the coordination of the hiring of these officers. 
However, a number of service providers have evolved to coordinate the needs of production companies with the pool of officers available to work these jobs.
